Interview with Jennifer Armintrout

Today I am happy to interview Jennifer Armintrout for our Q&A this week! As some as you know, Jennifer is the genius behind the Blood Ties Books. There are four of them in all and are available for purchase already. They include the following:

Align Left

Today Jennifer is here to announce a new series that will be available for purchase October 1, 2009. This is an exciting time for me because I am a HUGE fan of her writing! This girl can write! So here is the pictures of the new series with my Q&A following:

Hi Jennifer, Welcome to My Overstuffed Bookshelf! Glad to have you here. To start off can you tell the readers a little about yourself?
Well, I'm a mom to two kids, I live in a very small town in Michigan, and I'm a very irresponsible and disorganized person.
Can you tell us a little about your new releases coming up?
I have a trilogy of back-to-back-to-back releases in October, November, and December. Which will never happen again, because that is an ungodly amount of work in short amount of time. Basically, the story takes place in a time when humans have irreparably damaged the division between the physical world and the world of fairy tales and nightmares. Now, both worlds are stuck together on Earth, and the creatures who are trapped here are not happy. The first book, Queene of Light, tells the story of Ayla, a half-human faery who works as an assassin for the faery court in the Underground, the huge city in the sewers that the creatures have established. The other books, Child of Darkness and Veil of Shadows, continue the story.
When did you start writing? How did you decide what to write?
Everyone says, "I've been writing since I was a child," and it's true that I wrote stories when I was younger, and eventually I moved on to fan fiction when I was a teenager, but I never thought I would actually be a writer. My grandmother, Peggy Hanchar, wrote historical romance in the eighties and early nineties, and she always kind of pushed me to be a writer. It wasn't until after I dropped out of college that I considered writing for real, and by the time I made that decision, it seemed pretty clear that I should write something I found interesting, myself. I've always been a big fan of vampire movies and books, so writing my first series, Blood Ties, was kind of a no-brainer. After that, I got bored of vampires and kind of moved along to new ideas. Basically, if I would read it, I will write it.

When your not writing what kind of books do you like to read? Do you have any favorite authors, that are must reads?
I read basically anything. More genre fiction than anything, really, because I don't have the patience for a lot of literary fiction. It can be so gloomy, and it's like, "Okay, I guess you're asking tough questions and really examining what humanity is capable of and the tragedies that people can endure, but... man, you're bringing me down," so I don't read that kind of thing that often. My husband's step-mom lent me The Lovely Bones to read and I almost slit my writsts in the bathtub. As for authors, again, I read just about anything. My favorites in Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy are Gena Showalter and Charlaine Harris, but I always feel like a jerk for mentioning anyone because I think, "God, what if someone I know who writes reads this and thinks I'm mean for not mentioning them?"
What are 3 things that are "must haves" for you when you sit down to write a new book?
1. An idea.
2. A contract offer.
3. Diet Coke.
I really don't write anything (besides fan fictions) that I don't know I'm going to get paid for, and I'm looking into having my blood replaced with Diet Coke.

As a fan of your Blood Ties series, can readers expect to have the same darkness that was felt in that series in your upcoming series, or is it going to be a little lighter and more humorous?
I think the Lightworld/Darkworld novels, the ones that are coming out this fall, are darker than the Blood Ties series. Blood Ties was a little more accessible because the protagonist, Carrie, was relatable on a human level, and she used human emotion to make her decisions. If something really horrible happened, she thought, "God, that's really horrible." In Queene of Light, Ayla is an assassin, and while she has a very human side to her, she rejects those emotions and feelings. If something horrible happens in her world, she's probably the one who caused it.
Okay I am going to ask you to answer the following quickie questions:
Your favorite character from Blood Ties: Carrie is the one I feel closest too, because I was in her head so much. But Max is the one I could see hanging out with, because he's the most like me.

Your favorite thing to do in your downtime: Farm Town on facebook. Not even kidding, that is the most addictive game ever. And it's so stupid. I feel ashamed for liking it so much. "Yeah, I could have been playing through Heavenly Sword again, but I'm playing Farm Town instead."
If you were a vampire, bagged or from the neck: From the neck. If I were a vampire, I would kill so many people. I have a mental list of who goes first, when that day comes.
Your favorite paranormal creature: I know you mean vampire or werewolf or whatever, but I'm going to willfully misinterpret the question and say Jareth, the Goblin King.

Jen
Dude, my books are awesome.

Breaking Midnight by Emma Holly

BREAKING MIDNIGHT
Author: Emma Holly
  • Mass Market Paperback: 320 pages
  • Publisher: Berkley (July 7, 2009)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 0425228673
  • ISBN-13: 978-0425228678
Synopsis

Made vulnerable by his love for a human female, powerful vampire Edmund Fitz Clare has been kidnapped by a rival faction of shapechangers. For weeks now, he’s been shackled in a dungeon far from his London home, a pawn in a deadly game to control the world.

From the terrible hour Edmund disappeared, Estelle has welcomed him in her dreams—tantalizing visions of ecstasy and fear. Each dreamwalk brings her closer to finding him, but also puts her in the psychic sights of their enemy. She’ll have to draw on every drop of courage she has: to save her lover, to help his family, to keep her very world from falling into dangerous hands.

My Take:
Emma Holly does it again with another great book. This is the second book in her Fitz Clare Chronicles and it starts out where the last one left off. Edmund has been kidnapped by vampires Frank and Li-Hau and he is completely helpless to free himself because of all the iron bullets still in his body. His eldest son decides to take drastic measures to save Edmund from the enemy to help his guilt subside and to bring Edmund home. Together the family has to come as a group and save him. We get to reconnect with previous characters and even get to meet some new ones.
Estelle learns that she has more powers than she first thought, Sally matures in this book, Graham enlists Robin's special help, and Ben makes a decision about his true love.
There are still plenty of sensual scenes and history in this book, but the rescue of Edmund is still the front story. You will laugh, cry and even get angry thoughout the process of reading this book, but you will also want to add it to your collection as a great book to read time and time again.
The ending also gives us something to look forward to in the final installment of this series. It sets the scene up to where we know what to look forward to as Edmund and his family go on to the next chapter of their lives together.

My rating for this book:

Very Good! You have to read this book!

Playing House by Fredrica Wagman

Playing House
Author: Fredrica Wagman
  • Publisher: Random House Inc
  • Pub. Date: May 2008
  • ISBN-13: 9781581952254
  • Sales Rank: 307,131
  • 176pp
  • Edition Number: 35

Synopsis

When Playing House appeared in 1973, Publishers Weekly hailed it, “A probing descent into madness that will fascinate the same audience that appreciated I Never Promised You a Rose Garden.” This nationally bestselling story of one woman’s struggle with the lasting effects of a childhood sexual relationship with her brother shocked American readers; it remains a literary work of enduring quality and value. In his foreword Philip Roth writes, “The traumatized child; the institutionalized wife; the haunting desire; the ghastly business of getting through the day – what is striking about Wagman’s treatment of these contemporary motifs is the voice of longing in which the heroine shamelessly confesses to the incestuous need that is at once her undoing and her only hope.”

My Review:

I got this book from FSB Associates to read and review. I was excited to get this book and at first it looked like this might be an interesting read. I started to read it, and I too soon realized that this is not a book for me. I kept reading though thinking it will get better. Nope, nada, sorry. Now I am an adult in my 30s. But as I read this book, I felt like I was a child reading this. The story jumps around quicker than I can blink my eyes. Not only that but I have no connection to the characters leaving me not to care what happens with them. The way this book is written, I feel like it is for a genius to read and not a normal read for normal minded people. It's complex writing left me with one word--huh?! So sad to say, I didn't even finish this book. I barely made it to chapter three. Maybe someone will have better luck with this book, but I know that this book will not find its way to my bookshelf of favorites.

My Rating:

DNF (did not finish)

In Over Her Head by Judi Fennell

In Over Her Head
By Judi Fennell

Sourcebooks, Inc.

June, 2009

ISBN#: 9781402220012

Authors website: Judi Fennell

Back of Book:

When Erica Peck, one terrified-of-the-ocean marina owner, finds herself at the bottom of the sea conversing with a Mer man named Reel, she thinks she's died and gone to her own version of Hell. When the Oceanic Council demands she and Reel retrieve a lost cache of diamonds from the resident sea monster in return for their lives, she knows she's died and gone to Hell.

When they escape the monster and end up on a deserted island, she amends her opinion - she's died and gone to Heaven.

But when Reel sacrifices himself to allow her to return to her world, she realizes that, Heaven or Hell, with Reel, she's In Over Her Head.

My take:

I decided to step out of my vampire zone and try a different type of paranormal read this time. This book is about the people who live under the sea. Mer Men, as they call themselves, who have their own life and community under the sea that we have all heard in stories growing up. Atlantis? Sea Monsters? The Loch Ness? Yep, they all exist. Overall this book is one that I am glad I am adding to my bookshelf. It was well paced with characters I actually cared about. I was hooked on the first chapter all the way to the end. This is the first in a series and I am looking forward to her next books. I actually care to find out how the supporting characters in this book end up in the rest of the series. There was plenty of action, just the right amount of dialogue and scene set up, and most of all the romance was great! Now if only the next book would hurry and come out!

My rating:

Outstanding Book!
A definite favorite!

Someone Else's Shadow by Locus Award–winning author Barbara Hambly

Maddie Laveau worries about her young roommate, Tessa, when she stays late to practice ballet in the old Glendower Building…and when Tessa goes missing, Maddie enlists mysterious tenant Phil Anderson to help. But is Phil the white knight she needs, or the predator she fears?

I am not a big fan of short stories. For some reason I like a full length book to quench my thirst for book reading. With this book though, it didn't feel like I was reading short stories! They were all the right length with captivating stories that kept you reading from page one to last page. Each author did a wonderful job creating a masterpiece of short story. They were all so good, I can't even decide on my favorite of the three. Ms. Shayne and Ms. Harris are both well known authors to me. Ms. Hambly was an author I haven't really heard of until this book. Now I know I will be adding her to my list of favorites. All three have proven that short stories can be just as good as a full length novel, when done right. They did it perfectly. I had rented this book from the library, usually because newer books are hard to find in my town, but I now know that this one is added to my "to buy" pile!
If you are into vampires, ghosts, and just plain paranormal be sure to give this book a try the next time you are at your library/local bookstore/online book store. You won't be disappointed.
My Grade for this book: A+

Interview and Moon Kissed by Michele Hauf

Hello everyone! I am here with Michele Hauf today to share with you her new releases that are coming out today and on Sept 1rst. First up is her next book Moon Kissed, which is the second in the Wicked Games series from Harlequin. I had the wonderful experience of reading this book a month or so ago and let me tell you, this was hot! Who knew Ms. Hauf could write her werewolves just as sexy as her vampires! Well, I knew she could do it, but wow is all I can say about it! I don't want to give any spoilers away, but if you click on the image of the book below it will take you to the Harlequin site so you can read the back book blurb! Basically it is about Belladonna, a human, who is in danger and needs protection from Severo, a werewolf, for protection from a bunch of blood thirsty vampires. Now don't get me wrong, I love my vampires, but Michele has introduced me to a world where werewolves are just as sexy!
Ms. Hauf also has another ebook being released Sept 1rst through the Harlequin Ebook series Nocturne Bites. This ebook is the followup to Moon Kissed. Have you ever wondered what happens to a couple in a book after the book is over? Well in After the Kiss, we get a chance to read a little more about Belladonna and Severo and what happens after the fall in love. Do they really get the happily ever after we expect? We will have to wait until September 1rst to find out!

Now Michele was kind enough to let me interview her with a couple questions we all would like to know. So without further waiting here is the interview I had with her.

1. Out of all the books you have wrote and published, what is your personal favorite and why?

I’ve just put the finishing touches to HER VAMPIRE HUSBAND, which is the third in the Wicked Games series and will be out April 2010. I LOVE THIS BOOK. The hero and heroine really clicked and they made it a delight to work with them every day.

2. Which is your favorite? werewolves or vampires and why?

In my own books? My favorite vampire will always be my first, Sebastian Delacourte from Dark Rapture. He was a sexy rockstar guitarist.

3. What was the hardest part about
writing Moon Kissed for you?

Getting over the fact that
werewolves have never appealed to me. But Severo, the hero, was so adorable, and a little needy, that he made that easy enough.

4. What type of genre are you going to write next?

Working on a trilogy for Nocturne about Angels and Demons (of course, there are vampires too)
.

5. Any hints for the next book?

Well, the next book out after the two in September is HER
VAMPIRE HUSBAND, and it starts out with an arranged marriage between a vampire lord and a werewolf princess. He thinks she’s a snotty young brat. She thinks he’s just plain old and dull, and he’s a vampire! Sparks do fly, though, and this twosome overcome a lot to start seeing one another in a new light.

6. Your favorite vampire show and book?

Will always be The Vampire Lestat. ‘nuf said.

Well there you go. I hope you have enjoyed my first author interview and I encourage you to check out Ms. Haufs books. She is an extremely talented author and you won't be disappointed!

Until next post

It's Manga Monday!

I admit, I don't understand all the commotion about a Manga book. On the otherhand, my oldest daughter loves these and she says that alot of people love them. So I encouraged her to write a review on one. So now on Mondays, when her school work permits, she will be my guest blogger! She will write reviews on different Manga books for everyone who likes Manga! If this topic interests you, drop me a line with further suggestions for her to read and review. If you want to give these books a try, please remember that these sort of books are read a different way. They read from back to front and usually the books show you how to read them.

Chibi Vampire Series #1

This is a book/manga I read named Chibi Vampire which in English means Small Vampire. This series is about a young vampire girl that is actually the opposite of a vampire-- she doesn't suck blood-- SHE GIVES BLOOD! Not only does she give blood, but she runs into a human that has transferred into her school who ends up finding out. What's a girl to do?

Okay from what I have read in volume #1, I would say if you're into vampires, anime, or manga, this is one heck of a book/manga to read. I highly suggest this book/manga for people. The story is amazing, along with the artwork! The only problem I didn't like was the beginning, but hey that's only my opinion! Some of my friends like how the beginning is, so that is up for you to decide. Anyway back on topic, the beginning starts off all good and then it starts to get a little bit confusing, but it leads back on track after a chapter or 2 so don't worry about that. The part that is confusing for most people is how its read. Its' a backwards book, so you have to read right to left and if you look in the back of the book it shows you how to read it. Alright this is my 1st review so sorry if it didn't turn out that well, but I promise I will get better the more I do it.

Until next time........

TORTURED by Amanda McIntyre

  • Language: English

  • ISBN-13: 978-0373605330

I was so excited to finally get this book from my local library. I had heard such great reviews for it. Now, I am disappointed. I just could not get into this book. After the first chapter, I finally just put it in my library return pile. There was too much history lesson, people with strange names, and nothing to really capture my interest to keep me reading. It is set in the early Medieval times.

My Grade for this book: DNF (did not finish)

General info about book from author's site:

Marked by PC Cast + Kristin Cast

  • ISBN: 0312360266
  • ISBN-13: 9780312360269
  • Format: Paperback
  • Publisher: St. Martin's Press
  • Pub. Date: May 2007
  • Age Range: Young Adult

Marked is the first book in the House of Night series. PC Cast and Kristin Cast worked together writing this book and boy did they do great! This book pulls you in from the first chapter. It starts out at a normal high school, when the main character Zoey, is marked by a tracker. Once a person is marked they must go to lice at the House of Night school or die. Most people would want to stay with their parents but Zoey actually sneaks out to go because she can't stand her spineless mom and her over bearing stepfather. Zoey soon realizes that the Goddess Nyx has given her special powers, also causing her to be an oddity at her new school with a different mark than others. Soon she realizes that the Goddess has given her these new gifts to stand up to the head of the Daughters of the Night, which is like a sorority at this school, and make the school a better place for new vampyre fledglings. But does it come with a cost? Well, you will have to read the book to find out because I am not about to give away the spoilers!! This book has opened my eyes even wider to the Young Adult sections in the book stores and libraries.

My Grade For This Book: A+
House of Night Website

Back of Book:
Enter the dark, magical world of The House of Night, a world very much like our own, except here vampyres have always existed. Sixteen-year-old Zoey Redbird has just been Marked as a fledgling vampyre and joins the House of Night, a school where she will train to become an adult vampire. That is, if she makes it through the Change--and not all of those who are Marked do. It sucks to begin a new life, especially away from her friends, and on top of that, Zoey is no average fledgling. She has been chosen as special by the vampyre Goddess Nyx. Zoey discovers she has amazing powers, but along with her powers come bloodlust and an unfortunate ability to Imprint her human ex-boyfriend. To add to her stress, she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers: When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite group, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny--with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

Synopsis

When twenty-eight-year-old Lexi Smart wakes up in a London hospital, she’s in for a big surprise. Her teeth are perfect. Her body is toned. Her handbag is Vuitton. Having survived a car accident—in a Mercedes no less—Lexi has lost a big chunk of her memory, three years to be exact, and she’s about to find out just how much things have changed, Somehow Lexi went from a twenty-five-year-old working girl to a corporate big shot with a sleek new loft, a personal assistant, a carb-free diet, and a set of glamorous new friends. And who is this gorgeous husband—who also happens to be a multimillionaire? With her mind still stuck three years in reverse, Lexi greets this brave new world determined to be the person she…well, seems to be. That is, until an adorably disheveled architect drops the biggest bombshell of all. Suddenly Lexi is scrambling to catch her balance. Her new life, it turns out, comes complete with secrets, schemes, and intrigue. How on earth did all this happen? Will she ever remember? And what will happen when she does?

Good luck and happy reading! Amy

Kissing Midnight by Emma Holly

I just got done reading Kissing Midnight by Emma Holly. At first, I thought this would be kinda like the writing and theme that Lara Adrian writes. Boy was that wrong! In this series by Emma Holly we learn that besides "normal" blood-drinking vampires, there are another kind-UPRY's-which are shapeshifting vampires.
The book starts kind of slow explaining each character and setting the scene. We have Edmund, who is the father, that adopted 3 homeless children and eventually taking in another. As the children grow up we find that Edmund is in love with Estelle, the girl he takes in last. Now, Emma Holly is known for her erotica, so don't be surprised by the MANY twinge worthy sex scenes. Even though the book starts out slow, I enjoyed the characters once it took off. Mainly because this book not only focuses on Edmund and Estelle, but it also includes the romance thread of the children when they are older. I am really looking forward to seeing how they all evolve and hold on to love and family.

My grade for this book: A

Here is the back cover:

Kissing Midnight

Edmund Fitz Clare has been keeping secrets he can’t afford to expose. Not to the orphans he’s adopted. Not to the woman he’s been yearning after for years. This seeming professor of history is a shapeshifting vampire, determined to redeem past misdeeds.

Estelle Berenger knows better than to fall for her best friend’s father, but he holds the key to a mystery: that ever since she was struck by lightning, she’s had abilities no normal woman should be able to call upon.

The question is, can these star-crossed lovers survive a vampire war?

Fanged & Fabulous by Michelle Rowen

Fanged & Fabulous

(Immortality Bites – Book #2)

Grand Central Publishing – Forever
ISBN-10: 0446618624
ISBN-13: 978-0446618625

BACK OF BOOK:

Just stake me now.

My name is Sarah Dearly, and I’ve got major problems. Last month, I was turned into a vampire by the world’s worst blind date. Then I may have, totally by accident, started a war between the mostly peaceful bloodsuckers and a bunch of sociopathic vamp hunters who have nicknamed me the Slayer of Slayers.

Now I’m being used as bait to draw out the hunters’ bad-ass leader, while my gorgeous 600-year-old boyfriend Thierry seems to be blowing me off, and my sizzle-hot, fanged friend Quinn is trying to turn my self-defense lessons into make-out sessions. So you know what? I’m done. I’ve had it. There comes a time when a vamp has to just suck it up and go after what she wants. And as soon as I figure out what that is, that’s exactly what I’ll do…

Here is my review:

Fanged & Fabulous was the second book in the Immortality Bites series. After reading Michelle Rowen's first book in this series, Bitten & Smitten, I couldn't wait to read this book. I can say there were many campy vampy funny scenes in this book. Plenty of smarty lines that we come to expect from the character Sarah. But I found myself in a hurry to get to the end. At times I wanted to smack Thierry around, her boyfriend. Not only was I frustrated with the way the characters were acting, but the plot was repetitive to me. All in all it was a good quick read and a great break from the usual paranormal romance I read. If you read the first book, and truly enjoyed it, I would still recommend this book.

My grade for this book: B+

New website for new furniture!

I just wanted to share with everyone a new site I found. CSN Office Furniture sells everything from home office furniture to office accessories. Be sure to check them out. They have some awesome book shelves that are so beautiful. I have my eye on a couple and I am trying to narrow it down to just one.

Now this company contacted me wanting to review their furniture. Who me? Sure! I told my hubby and jumped at the chance at furniture!

So I cruised around their website and I found this bookcase that I am going to get. Kinda plain, but it will work for now. If I like it well enough, I am going to hint to my hubby that I want this one!

So go take a cruise and surf their site. You may find yourself drooling, and in heaven with their furniture like I was!

Rapture by Jacquelyn Frank

WOW! Yep, that about sums it up. I don't know how else to say it. Just when I thought Jacquelyn Frank couldn't do any better than what she has wrote in the past, she goes and out does herself again! I just got done reading RAPTURE and let me tell ya, I am already sitting on pins and needles for her next one!

This book is the second in her Shadowdwellers series. Ecstasy was the first in this series, and before that she did The Nightwalker Series. Out of the Nightwalker series, NOAH was my favorite and so far RAPTURE is right up there with it. I had to borrow this book from the library because in our small town I couldn't get my hands on a copy of this book. It was sold out before I could get to the store. So I waited patiently and now I don't want to give it up.

This is the tale of Magnus. He was betrayed in the previous book by his handmaiden, and in this book he rescues a slave and she becomes his new handmaiden. He tries to teach her the ways of the Shadowdwellers, but she teaches him the ways of trust and true love in return. Now, Ms. Frank had me panting, turning my fan on high and telling my hubby to meet me in the bedroom or else, and that was only half way through the book!! Let me tell ya, this is one sizzlin' hot book that I did NOT want to put down. All I can say is please Jacquelyn, hurry and get the next one out in this series because I really want to see what happens next!!!

PS..My hubby says thank you thank you thank you Jacquelyn Frank!

My grade for this book: A+

Back of book:

The Shadowdwellers live in a realm of darkness and sensuality, where order is prized and sin must be punished. Yet for Magnus, the head priest of Sanctuary, salvation rests with the one woman who will entice him into breaking his every rule…

SHE WAS HIS ULTIMATE TEMPTATION

Magnus is a man of contradictions—a spiritual leader in a deadly warrior’s body. Rules and order are for enforcing and visions must be followed—even if that means freeing a beautiful slave and making her his reluctant handmaiden. But she isn’t the only unenthusiastic partner. Betrayed once before, Magnus can barely bring himself to trust another woman.

Yet everything about Daenaira’s fiery innocence compels him time and again to cross every line he’s ever drawn for himself.

Daenaira grew up hearing tales of the fearsome priest named Magnus. But no one can convince her that men of honor truly exist. She soon learns that Magnus is very real—every inch of him—and so is the treachery that surrounds them. Beneath Sanctuary’s calm surface, an enemy is scheming to unleash havoc on the Shadowdwellers, unless Magnus trusts in a union ordained by fate, and sealed by unending bliss…

Midnight's Master by Cynthia Eden

HOT! That is my take on this book. Cynthia Eden delivers again in the 3rd installment of her Midnight trilogy. The story and characters have you reading constantly and not wanting to put the book down for anything. This book spotlights the passion and suspense between Holly Storm and Niol Lapen. What do you get when a hot level ten demon has to work with nosy and persistent reporter Holly Storm? HOT!HOT!HOT! They are on the trail of a psycho demon killer that likes to steal OTHER organs. Others are the demons, vampires and other supernatural beings. This book also has the characters from the previous 2 books as supporting players in this suspense, nail biting case. Click here to see the back cover and more info on not only this book, but other of Cynthia Eden's books.

Bitten & Smitten by Michelle Rowen

I decided to change the book review up this time for everyone. Instead of the usual hot and sexy paranormal romance book, I decided to review a lighthearted paranormal romance. Bitten & Smitten by Michelle Rowen was campy, vampy, and so much fun to read. Imagine goin out on a blind date that decides to turn you into a vampire without telling you, getting chased by vampire hunters, and jumping off a bridge all in one night. Then having to find a new vampire to teach you the ropes, that just happens to be the oldest vampire in town, and falling madly in love with him. I was hooked on the frist page of this book and the laughs continued from there. If I was the heroine in this book, I would be making me a bloody mary drink and sharpening me a wooden stake just to end my misery of all the stuff she goes through. But of course, I would do it with a smile on my face like she does. This is truly a modern, present day girls guide to being a vampire. Here is the back of the book:

There’s a new vamp in town…

Dear Mom,

I might be a wee bit late for Cousin Missy’s wedding. It’s been a tough week. Turns out, my blind date from hell was literally from hell. Guy bit me. Next thing I know, I’m being chased all over the city by vampire hunters. And did I mention that I got fired, too?

Bright side-I met a man. Thierry de Bennicoeur. How great is that name? Anyway, he’s sexy, six-hundred years old, and a tad suicidal, but no one’s perfect, right? And we have a deal-he’s gonna show me the ropes of the vampire world, and I’m supposed to help him end his existence. Or maybe I’ll just try to convince him life is worth living – no small challenge with the mostly immortal, let me tell you. I’ll admit it’s a complicated relationship. But with any luck, I just might have a date for that wedding after all…

Hugs and Kisses,

Sarah
